Palma is a large town, offering a vast choice of accommodation options. Here are a few picks, aimed as usual at the BMBNDVs (budget minded but not destitute visitor), seeking comfortable simplicity rather then luxury and glamour.
Budget Hostels (shared accommodation)
Budget guest houses
Private rentals
The rental of rooms or private apartments through portals such as Airbnb ( https://www.airbnb.com) is increasingly popular and well worth considering for a few nights stay. Small individual apartments start at around 50 Euros per night. Spain Rentals ( http://spainrentalsproperties.com ) is a local real estate agency that specialises in short term rentals.
Medium range hotels
Budget Hostels (shared accommodation)
- Central Palma (http://www.centralpalma.com) is a youth hostel in the heart of the old town. Location is quiet and pleasant, and the hostel offer shared accomodation at 25 Euros per person.
- Hostal Terramar (http://www.hostalterramar.es) Is what would commonly be referred to as a crash pad, close to the harbour area. It is popular with yachties and offers adequate shared accommodation from 20 euros per person per night.
- Hostal La Mimosa ( http://www.hostalamimosa.com ) in Cala Nova also offers shared accommodation (see hereafter)
Budget guest houses
- Hostel Apuntadores (http://www.apuntadoreshostal.com) and Hostal Ritzi ( http://hostalritzipalma.com ) live side by side on a busy pedestrian street in the La llonja area of the old town. They offer budget rooms from 40 Euros single and 65 doubles, in adequate if slightly worn down no thrill surroundings.
- Hostal Pons ( http://hostalpons.com ) is also in the old town and has very basic rooms from 35 Euros.
- The Hostal Corona (www.hostal-corona.com ) is set in a grand mansion in El Terreno, a quiet area of town bellow Bellver Castle and is the jewel of Palma's budget accommodation. Doubles here are around 60 Euros,. There is a bar, a restaurant and a large garden. A very good choice, though the hostal is closed in the off season and can be noisy at times.
- Hostal Bonany ( http://www.hostalbonany.com ) is in a modern building also in a quiet neighbourhood close to Bellver Castle. There is a pool and the rooms are fairly modern. it is deservedly busy with rooms from 50 Euros a night.
- Palma guest house (no website, google it) is set in a central apartment on Jaime III avenue, and has good reviews with rooms at around 60 euros per night.
- Hostal La Mimosa ( http://www.hostalamimosa.com ) is further out of town in a nice villa towards Cala Nova. It caters to cyclists (amongst other) and offers doubles from 55 Euros as well as beds in shared accommodation from 25 Euros.

Medium range hotels
- Hotet Abelay ( http://www.hotelabelay.es ) and Hotel Abelux ( http://www.hotelabelux.es ) are two medium range, business or family hotels not far from Plaza D'Espanya. Doubles start at 70 Euros and are clean and comfortable.
- Hotel Born (http://www.hotelborn.com) is at the bottom end of Palma's boutique hotel scene. It is pleasant enough if not quite as grand as some of its counterparts, and "reasonably" priced as far as boutique hotels go (+/- 100 Euros a double). It is also very central.
- Hotel Mirador (http://www.hotelmirador.es) is the cheapest of the 4 star hotels on the Passeo Maritimo, Palma harbour sea front boulevard. Standards and prices are 3 stars rather then 4 star (120 Euros a double per night), but some of the rooms are nice, and the hotel is a bit more quirky then its rather impersonal neighbouring competitors.
- There are a few more cheapish options further away from town, such as Hotel Horizonte or other tourist hotels in Cala Mayor or El Arenal. Most are no great shakes.
